OUR STORY
Soovu Labs is on a mission to transform the treatment of chronic pain by providing safe and effective relief – without pills, invasive procedures, or surgery.
It all began when Drs. Chabal and Dunbar, board certified physicians in pain management at the University of Washington, were personally moved by witnessing the tragedy that opioids wrought on patients and their families. They challenged themselves: could there be a new, drug-free approach to treating chronic pain?
With funding and support from the National Institutes of Health, the doctors discovered a new way to treat pain. Through years of study, experimentation and listening to patients, they discovered that targeted pulsing of high energy heat substantially reduces pain. An incubator was formed within a leading product development firm in Seattle, and seven generations of prototypes were built. Independent, randomized, double blinded clinical trials proved that levels of high heat were clinically more effective than steady heat, while being safe on the skin.
Soovu Labs was born. A team of product developers (and fellow pain sufferers) assembled to bring the innovation to reality. In addition to the pulsing heat devices, the team developed a smartphone app to incorporate best practices in stress management. Stress is widely known to exacerbate pain, which in turn, increases stress, creating a vicious cycle of suffering. The team at Soovu labs is working day and night to bring these solutions to life to help people with chronic pain take back their lives.
